I love to compare intelligences with others. I feel superior to those who I find are less intelligent than I, yet feel equal to those who are more intelligent than myself. It's a competition within myself to find those who are "inferior" to me to feel good about myself. Yes, vain.
Those who I feel are lacking in even an average level of intelligence are treated as little kids inside my head. When they show a bit of brightness, in my brain I say "good" in a voice such as how you would talk to your 3 year old. As if it's this massive step forward. I know the majority of the human race isn't an accumulation of blundering buffoons, but I have little patience for those who have yet to mature.
Don't get me wrong. I positively know I am not the sharpest object in the spoon drawer, but I do view myself as above average.

Just because someone is below average doesn't mean they're not mature. There's a big difference.
ReplyDeleteTake me for instance; I was born premature, [at seven and a half months.] and I had a head injury at a young age.
Because of this I have always been a grade or two behind, but I act very mature for my age. Unfortunately I was too mature for the immature kids and not smart enough for the 'intelligent' kids, so I've spent most of my childhood friendless.
And while I'm one of the lucky ones who conquered most of the challenges set before me, I can't change that most of my existence was a lonely one.
If only more people had see me as a kind, hard-working human being instead of simply 'unintelligent' then maybe I would have prospered even more than I already have.
