Late Summer

So, summer is almost over. I have done nothing, but sit in my room and play video games on my 'puter (The Sims2, Counter-Strike, GrandTheftAuto). At one point during the summer I tried to get into an eat healthy and exercise routine, but it kind of fell through when I got sick of running. I have started running again though, because of a menacing date in the future (August 14th) involving running 3.1 miles. My metabolism has been super slow most of the summer so I usually only eat two small meals a day. I have done a bit of reading though. I read the entire Inheritance series (Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr) in two weeks; a little less than 2000 pages in all.

I never did get a job. Partly because I'm lazy partly because I don't need one and partly because I am a little apprehensive about doing something I'm not used to.

On Monday July 26th I had orientation for the University I am attending later in August. I felt like a freshman at a new high school all over again. Which is basically true. Most of the stupidity of high school was present in the lectures I attended (although the quietness was nice). We were told to make a friend or two and to stick close to them. We were also ordered to find something that interested us on campus and become involved in it. I met a few cool people but didn't really make any new friends. The day felt like they were just trying to find ways to waste time till 5 o clock when we were allowed to bail (seriously, 8-5?).

At orientation one of my friends asked if I would like to take her dog. Her family is losing their house because her father has been out of work for over a year and they haven't made a payment on their house for about that long. I immediately said sure and when I brought it up with my mom and she almost immediately said yes. So on wednesday I went over and picked up my dog, Frankie.
He is a really sweet little dog. My mother laughed at him for a half an hour straight when I brought him home due to his snorting and fatness. I believe he was fed mostly human food at his other house and so he's overweight and picky. He didn't eat anything until Friday, when my little sis gave him a soft dog food packet (used for our old decrepit Sweeney dog) and I used a trick I found on the Internet to get him to eat kibbles (put a little water in a bowl of dog food and heat it up to get the aroma going). I also got him to eat today which made me happier than it should have haha. He still has a lot of energy even though he's fat. He'll play fetch...kind of, and likes to go for walks even though it's a hassle to get his harness on him. He thinks it's a tug-o-war toy. He likes to follow me or my sis around the house. He's been trained (I think at his original house, not my friend's but the one before), he knows how to sit, and knows what "stay" means. He loves getting his chest scratched, I think because he can't reach it himself. He's just an awesome dog all around.

Post Graduation

It still doesn't feel real as I sit here typing from my new Acer laptop.
We had the graduation ceremony. The auditorium was packed. I didn't cry. It went by so fast. The ceremony as well as my high school years. I know if I blink it's going to be July 26th and I'm going to be at orientation.

I was up till 4 am. I chose not to attend grad night because of anti-socialism or something or other. I came home after receiving my diploma and watched 101 Dalmations with Cody (boyfriend) and afterwards went outside on the tramp and gazed at the stars with him. The stars that weren't being blocked by the apricot tree or the lights nearby, that is. It was nice but a bit chilly.

My day was ridiculously long. You know when you do 69 different things in a day it seems to make it seem so long. I had this experience yesterday.

I'm kind of intimidated by the big world now that I'm about to jump into it.

Graduation

Yeah, that's tomorrow. It's kind of hard to think that I won't be coming back to high school next year. It doesn't feel like May (I mean it snowed the other day, come on); feels like we should be getting out for Christmas break.
I don't feel 18. And I definitely feel inadequately prepared for the "real world" despite my vast pool of knowledge.
As much as I can't stand school and it's triviality I will miss it.
I'm not excited to have to find a job (I gotta start my work history somewhere.

I am excited for the immediate era though. I am expecting a laptop tomorrow at some point.
I get to leave behind the retardation of my school; as in the idiots that make up my school. Seriously.
I get to start in on a new experience (thank God). Maybe I'll actually learn something new in college.

Ugh. PS the refried beans I had for dinner are not settling particularly well; having some kind of indigestion or sunthing.

Quirks

I love to compare intelligences with others. I feel superior to those who I find are less intelligent than I, yet feel equal to those who are more intelligent than myself. It's a competition within myself to find those who are "inferior" to me to feel good about myself. Yes, vain.

Those who I feel are lacking in even an average level of intelligence are treated as little kids inside my head. When they show a bit of brightness, in my brain I say "good" in a voice such as how you would talk to your 3 year old. As if it's this massive step forward. I know the majority of the human race isn't an accumulation of blundering buffoons, but I have little patience for those who have yet to mature.

Don't get me wrong. I positively know I am not the sharpest object in the spoon drawer, but I do view myself as above average.
